Even if Haaland cries, Salah once again proves he is the best in the Premier League

On Sunday, Mo Salah scored his 100th goal in English football as Liverpool defeated Brentford 3-0 in the Premier League. Overcoming Arsenal on goal differential, Jurgen Klopp’s team moved up to second place in the standings at Anfield thanks to goals from Salah in each of the two halves and Diogo Jota’s third. The victory preserved the Merseyside team’s perfect home record for the current campaign. Jota scored in the 74th miinute, but Salah gave Liverpool the lead in the 39th and scored his historic 100th goal in England with a header in the 62nd.

Salah moved to 12 goals for the season in all competitions thanks to his goals, which helped him maintain his stellar form this season. In his previous 15 home games, the Egyptian has scored 17 goals. Liverpool’s recent performance has been less spectacular following last week’s unexpected 1-1 league tie with Luton. That was followed on Thursday by a 3-2 loss to Toulouse in the Europa League.

And when Bryan Mbeumo scored in the first half of Liverpool’s match against Brentford, they might have been behind. Goalie Alisson had to make a one-on-one save to maintain parity in the score. Salah soon afterward put the home team ahead. When Darwin Nunez got a pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold just inside the area, he had his back to goal and the vision to slide the ball into Salah’s move down the right.

Salah is already historic

The Egyptian striker’s low, angled left-footed effort was flawless. Kostas Tsimikas hoisted a cross from the left to the far post, setting up a header for the second. The players for Brentford appeared to halt, thinking the ball was out of play. Salah, though, was alert enough to turn the ball in, and the goal stood following a VAR review. Jota took the ball to the edge of the box and fired it into the far corner to seal the victory.
