Trent Williams might be a valuable asset for Kyle Shanahan going forward.
During a three-game slump, offensive lineman Trent Williams of the San Francisco 49ers left a significant vacuum in the trenches; however, his return could come this weekend.
On Thursday, November 9, the ten-time Pro Bowler made a restricted comeback to practise while recovering from an ankle ailment. In October, Williams was injured during a Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
His prolonged absence prompted concerns about its severity, particularly in light of the fact that he skipped practise on Wednesday of this week. Kyle Shanahan, the head coach of the 49ers, stated that Williams’ recuperation was better than anticipated.
“It is evident that there is. Just when he has so much history of that kind and other things. There was no sign of a high [ankle] or anything similar. But a lot of things can happen when you’ve had that throughout your career. Additionally, the healing process has taken longer than anticipated, Shanahan told reporters on Wednesday, November 8.
Williams has an overall Pro Football Focus score of 81.9, making him possibly the best tackle in the game. Without him, the 49ers’ offence faltered, scoring just 17 points in three straight games after dropping from 33.4 points per game.
Jacksonville Moore filled in for Williams for San Francisco, but his talent and ability were not up to par. Moore received an overall grade of 73.6 from Pro Football Focus.
Four additional 49ers players participated in limited action.
According to Thursday’s injury report, the 49ers only had limited participation from Williams, defensive end Drake Jackson (knee), linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (ankle), and defensive lineman Jayvon Hargrave (knee). Aaron Banks, the guard (toe), missed practise for the second day in a row.
A couple more players from San Francisco were listed as injured, despite having participated fully in practise on consecutive days. Included in that group were linebacker Dre Greenlaw (shoulder), defensive end Robert Beal (hamstring), cornerback Darrell Luter (knee), and cornerback Samuel Womack (knee).
The Jacksonville Jaguars, the 49ers’ opponent in Week 10, did not have any players absent from practise this week owing to injuries. The hamstrings of defensive backs Daniel Thomas (hamstring), Andre Cisco (hamstring), and Tyson Campbell were all limited.Cornerback Gregory Junior participated fully in practise on Thursday, and linebacker Yasir Abdullah (sickness) made a comeback.
49ers concentrated on the Jaguars one-game season.
Jacksonville enters the match with a five-game winning streak while San Francisco is on a losing streak. Even more justification to embrace the single-game season mindset.
Shanahan stated, “I think it’s important every week, but especially after you’ve lost three straight, you have to get back to the part of that’s all that matters.” “The season always lasts one week, and the goal isn’t to go on a run or do something similar. This week’s goal is to defeat a really skilled football team.
Shanahan also applauded the scheduling of the bye week prior to the Jaguars game, which allowed them to move past their third straight defeat. In Week 8, the 49ers lost 31–17 to the Cincinnati Bengals, and Shanahan said the team appeared worn out.
It was alarming, Shanahan said, “I think it showed up more on our tape in Cincinnati than it had the other in a while.” “So, while I was happy for the holiday, I also believe that the trip took a bit of a toll on us. All of those seem to me to be the same thing: justifications for something. Indeed, though, our people are far more experienced now. They appear ready to go, so maybe they’ll practise well this week, play well on Sunday, and maintain that performance.
