Packers’ Romeo Doubs discusses the Vikings’ victory and the Steelers’ road trip.
Romeo Doubs was praised by teammates on September 10 following a touchdown against the Chicago Bears.
GREEN BAY, Wis -The Green Bay Packers defeated the Rams 20-3 to get back in the win column.
Romeo Doubs, a wide receiver, and FOX6’s Lily Zhao had a one-on-one conversation about how important this game was to the Green & Gold.
Romeo, you made some huge receptions in that victory versus the Rams, said Zhao. After a challenging football month, did you guys feel like you’ve had the monkey off your backs with that win?”
“Yes, without a doubt,” replied Doubs. “We got it off our backs, but I know nobody likes to go on a losing run. I’m aware that we have a formidable foe this week, but as long as we continue to prepare as we did last week, nothing but success is possible.”
Zhao: “The cameras caught a certain moment on the bench. Aaron Jones approaches Dontavyion Wicks, who had just stumbled, and puts his arms around him. You take a seat as well to comfort him. How significant was that moment to declare, “We have your back,” and what kind of brotherhood is it?
“Dontayvion Wicks, he’s been playing really good football for us, so we understood it was a critical moment,” stated Doubs. “Mistakes happen in this game, but let’s just make sure we stick by him and support him because those kinds of moments can kill you throughout the day as well as the game. I simply believed that it was my responsibility to lift his spirits so he could continue to play the game and make plays, which he eventually did.”
Zhao: “Can you discuss your defence in any way? You guys have really been carried by them these past few weeks.”
Doubs declared, “I thought the defence played a heckuva job.” “The rookie had a huge fourth down stop for them. As usual, Jaire Alexander was around the ball, and Carrington Valentine got out there and gave it his all. Guys like De’Vondre Campbell, the backers, and the defensive line are all playing excellent football. Guys like them make me happy to be around because they not only play well on defence, but they also improve us during the week.”
Zhao: “Starting on Sunday in Pittsburgh is a challenging schedule. What are your first impressions of the Steelers for the current season?
“The Steelers, they’ve been playing really good football,” stated Doubs. “They have really talented players. You are well-versed in all areas and has experience. They have an excellent defensive end. We have some dogs on our end as well as some experienced guys on the backend, so as long as we play our game and continue to prepare like we did this past week, only good things will come.”
