To win the title, Liverpool has to buy these two players, according to Jamie Carragher.
“Liverpool are not ready to win the Premier League,” according to Jamie Carragher, who claims that the team is just two signings shy of competing with teams like Manchester City.
Luis Diaz’s stoppage time saved a point for Liverpool on Sunday, as they were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw against underdogs Luton Town.
The Reds’ current position in the table is third, three points behind leaders City, but if Tottenham defeats Chelsea on Monday night, the difference between them will be five points.
The two points lost are significant, and veteran of Liverpool Carragher feels that when the transfer window reopens in January, Jurgen Klopp must address two pressing concerns.
According to the veteran defender, Liverpool still can’t stop counterattacks as well as Man City does on Sky Sports.
Liverpool is a club that is strong in possession and has a lot of the ball, but they lose the ball more frequently and commit more mistakes than Man City because of their inferiority off the ball.
It appears like rivals are finding more opportunities to attack and close the gap on Liverpool. Other than the goal we witnessed, Luton lacked the quality to truly punish them.
Although Liverpool’s midfield has improved from the previous campaign, they still lack a standout holding midfield player.
There isn’t a great holding midfielder in [Alexis] Mac Allister. Although he has outstanding receiving skills, he struggles defensively and doesn’t have the necessary quickness for the position.
Liverpool may use a superb defender who can practically play in a couple of spots in the back four, rather than a player for a certain position.
They decided to start [Joe] Gomez at left back today since they believed he would be more capable on defence. In my opinion, Liverpool may benefit from having a right-back on the opposite side, freeing up Trent Alexander-Arnold to play in midfield.
“Liverpool is not prepared to take the league title.” Right now, Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool fans are aware of that.
Their goal is to return to the top four. They really need a world-class defender and a holding midfielder if they want to contend once more.
The need for a defensive midfielder has long been recognised, since Liverpool lost James Milner, Fabinho, and Jordan Henderson during the summer, while Thiago Alcantara is still out due to injury.
In an attempt to replace them, the team tried to recruit Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, but Chelsea beat them both. Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch were finally acquired, but Ryan is the only available natural holding midfielder.
The Japan captain has only been trusted to start one league game thus far, but given the outcome against Luton, he might be added to the starting lineup for the Reds’ upcoming matchup with Brentford.
