A Liverpool great once did something that Lionel Messi would have loved, according to Yaya Toure.
Mohamed Salah’s lone goal for Liverpool against Watford in the 2021–2022 season, according to Yaya Toure, would have made Lionel Messi proud.
The former Manchester City player called Salah’s goal against the Hornets one of the greatest goals ever scored by an African player in the Premier League while speaking on the Match of the Day Africa podcast.
Salah picked up the ball close to Watford’s area and used his close control to take out three Watford defenders before smashing the ball past Ben Foster to give Liverpool a 5-0 victory.
Salah has a history of producing game-winning strikes; in fact, the winger reportedly received the 2018 Puskas Award for his eleventh best goal of the year. Toure believes Messi would be pleased with this one, though.
The analyst stated: “Mo Salah scored a goal similar to that against Man City at Anfield against Watford in 2021/22.”
People would say, “He’s just a top player, you know,” if he were Messi. You know what I mean when you play one on one, turn up the engine, and you dribble one after another, etc.?
Liverpool’s Salah goals would make Messi proud.
Messi would be proud of the majority of Salah’s goals, which have been nothing short of extraordinary since he joined Liverpool for £34 million in 2017.
Under Jurgen Klopp, Salah’s goals have helped Liverpool become one of the greatest teams in the world, with runs as dazzling as his thunderbolt strikes from long range.
And among the greatest of the lot is the winger’s technically outstanding goal against Watford two years ago, for which Toure appropriately gifted Salah his roses at Vicarage Road.
