π¨ COLLINGWOOD’S RECORD-BREAKING OFFER REJECTED! ZAK BUTTERS CHOOSES WESTERN BULLDOGS! π¨
Collingwood have suffered a major transfer disappointment after their ambitious attempt to sign Port Adelaide superstar Zak Butters failed to produce the desired outcome.
The Magpies reportedly went all out to secure the services of the highly-rated midfielder, putting a club-record offer worth more than $14 million over eight years on the table in an attempt to convince him to join their project.
Collingwood had identified Butters as a major addition to their midfield and were prepared to make a significant financial commitment to bring him to the club. However, despite their impressive proposal, the deal did not go their way.
In a major twist, Butters eventually narrowed his options before selecting the Western Bulldogs as his preferred destination for the 2027 season.
The decision represents a significant disappointment for Collingwood, who had invested considerable effort in pursuing one of the competition’s most exciting midfielders.
For the Western Bulldogs, however, landing a player of Butters’ quality represents a massive recruitment victory. His arrival is expected to strengthen their midfield and provide another exciting dimension to their ambitions.
Butters’ departure from Port Adelaide also brings an end to an important chapter after eight seasons with the club.
Collingwood made their move, but the Western Bulldogs won the race!
What a transfer battle!
