*BREAKING: Ravens vs Vikings Preseason Game Postponed*
Baltimore, MD — The NFL preseason matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings, set for this weekend at M&T Bank Stadium, has been officially postponed.
The league, in coordination with both teams, announced the decision Thursday afternoon. A new date and time are expected to be released within the next 48 hours.
In a joint statement, the Ravens and Vikings said: “After careful evaluation of current conditions, and in consultation with the NFL and local authorities, we have made the decision to postpone Saturday’s preseason game. The safety of our players, coaches, staff, and fans is our top priority. We apologize for the disruption and thank Ravens Flock and Vikings fans for their understanding.”
### Reason for the postponement
While the teams did not cite one single cause, multiple factors played a role.
1. *Weather and field conditions*: Heavy rain and storms in the Baltimore area over the past 36 hours left parts of the stadium and surrounding areas under review. Ground crews need additional time to ensure the playing surface meets NFL standards.
2. *Roster management*: Both Baltimore and Minnesota are coming off a competitive week of joint practices. With several players managing minor bumps and bruises, both coaching staffs requested additional recovery time before playing a full game.
The NFL confirmed there are no competitive concerns and that this was a precautionary move.
### What happens next for fans
All tickets purchased for the original date will be honored for the rescheduled game. Fans who cannot attend the new date can request a refund through their original point of purchase starting Friday morning.
M&T Bank Stadium will be closed to the public on the original game day. Parking passes will automatically transfer to the new date. The Ravens also announced that the team’s planned in-stadium promotions and fan events will be moved as well.
### Impact on both teams
For Baltimore, this was supposed to be a big evaluation opportunity for backup QB’s and young defenders fighting for the 53-man roster. Head Coach John Harbaugh said the team will replace the game with a controlled scrimmage and extra film work to stay on schedule.
For Minnesota, Head Coach Kevin O’Connell called it “an adjustment, not a setback.” The Vikings will use the extra days to get healthier and continue installing parts of the offense ahead of Week 1.
The NFL preseason schedule remains tight, so league officials are working to slot the Ravens-Vikings game into the final preseason weekend if possible. If a date cannot be found, the teams may opt for an additional closed practice instead.
