The Premier League match between Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur at the Gtech Community Stadium was delayed due to a severe issue with the stadium’s water supply.
The disruption meant there was no running water across the stadium’s facilities, leaving toilets, kitchens, and medical areas non-functional. Because basic sanitation could not be maintained for thousands of supporters, staff, and players, stadium officials and local authorities flagged the situation as a public health concern.
Brentford FC released an official statement shortly before kick-off, informing fans: *”Please be aware that we are currently dealing with an issue in relation to the water supply into the stadium which is affecting all related facilities. We will provide a further update in due course.”*
Engineers worked quickly on-site to restore the main water flow. Once safety protocols were met and sanitation was fully operational again, the match referee and stadium officials cleared the teams to take the pitch, allowing the game to get underway after the brief delay.
