Michigan State Women’s Basketball Adds Sara Sambolic to 2025-26 Roster
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State head women’s basketball coach Robyn Fralick has announced the addition of international standout Sara Sambolic to the 2025-26 roster. The talented guard/forward from Croatia becomes the latest addition to the Spartans’ recruiting class, bringing elite international experience, strong basketball IQ, and versatility to the program.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sara Sambolic to the Spartan family,” Fralick said. “She’s a dynamic player with great instincts on both ends of the court. Her international background gives her a level of maturity and understanding of the game that will add immediate value to our team.”
Standing at 6-foot-1, Sambolic has been a rising star in Europe, playing for the Croatian U18 and U20 national teams. Known for her court vision and ability to play multiple positions, she brings a polished skill set and leadership qualities that have impressed scouts across Europe. She most recently competed for ŽKK Trešnjevka 2009, one of Croatia’s top women’s clubs, where she was a consistent contributor in points, assists, and rebounds.
Sambolic’s signing reflects Michigan State’s growing emphasis on international recruiting under Coach Fralick. Since taking the helm in 2023, Fralick and her staff have prioritized building a roster that combines homegrown talent with international depth and diversity, aiming to position the Spartans as a Big Ten and national contender.
“Sara’s passion for the game and her competitive spirit really stood out during the recruiting process,” said Fralick. “She’s eager to grow, and she fits our culture both on and off the court. We can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make as a Spartan.”
Sambolic also brings a strong academic record, expressing interest in pursuing a degree in kinesiology or sports psychology. She will join a core group of returning players and incoming freshmen that includes several top-ranked U.S. prospects, adding to what is shaping up to be a deep and balanced 2025-26 roster.
With the addition of Sambolic, Michigan State continues to build momentum heading into the future. Her arrival signals the program’s ongoing commitment to recruiting high-character student-athletes who can contribute immediately and grow within the Spartan system.
Sara Sambolic is expected to arrive on campus in summer 2025 and will be eligible to compete in the fall.
