Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, stated that he would want Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, to succeed him as manager.
Simeone is now among the managers with the longest tenure. The Argentine’s time in Madrid has now lasted 12 years after he recently inked yet another contract extension with Atletico.
He will, however, eventually leave the Wanda Metropolitano. Simeone was asked via TeamTALK by Cadena SER who he would want to see succeed him when that time arrives. Fans of Liverpool may not be pleased with his response.
“Among the best is [Carlo] Ancelotti, Pochettino, and Klopp. The 53-year-old stated, “Those are the coaches I would like to work with at Atletico.”
Simeone’s new contract expires in 2027, one year after Klopp left Liverpool, but we still have faith that Jurgen will stay a Red for a very long time. Cholo, keep your mitts off!
Klopp is backed by Simeone for Atletico
To be fair, it’s easy to understand why Klopp would be drawn to Atletico when he eventually relinquishes control of the Anfield team.
The German has talked about managing in Spain even though he has frequently stated that he would like to return home after leaving Liverpool for a brief hiatus.
Naturally, Atletico would not be the only team vying for him if that were to occur.
Real Madrid would undoubtedly want to have Jurgen in charge even if they have often defeated him and his club.
Although the Liverpool manager may not be Barcelona’s style, the Catalans would undoubtedly want to be involved as well.

However, Klopp is a manager who enjoys taking on new challenges, as we all know. He seems more interested in the tenacious challenger than in joining the most “obvious” clubs.
It’s true that Atletico has lost some of their stubbornness due to their recent wealth. However, in comparison to their neighbours in the capital of Spain, they remain relatively small fish.
Because of this, maybe Klopp would be drawn to the task of trying to unseat Real.
He hasn’t been able to achieve it at Liverpool yet, so perhaps he will view it as unresolved business. But Jurgen still has years ahead of him in Merseyside till then. Besides, El Cholo is, once again seemingly going nowhere in the nearest future.
