Darren Bent has drawn comparisons between Erling Haaland of Manchester City and Mohamed Salah of Liverpool.
This season, Salah and Haaland are ranked first and second in the Premier League scoring statistics. They meet again at the Etihad Stadium following the international break.
Mo will need to put in a tremendous amount of work this season to surpass the City striker as the best marksman in the division. Nevertheless, Bent asserted in an interview with TalkSPORT yesterday that Liverpool’s Egyptian King is still a more well-rounded player.
“Because Haaland is a beast, he will always receive more assists than Haaland, and Haaland will score more goals.” However, Salah won’t be too far behind him in terms of goals scored,” the former England striker added.
Given his goals and assists, I believe Salah will provide you a better deal. Haaland is capable of certain things that Salah is not, but I believe Salah is more adept at using a football than Haaland is.
“It is impossible for Haaland to defeat three or four opponents in a confined area and then score. However, two outstanding football players on par.
Salah vs. HaalandÂ
If you were to ask Liverpool supporters which player they would rather have on their team—Salah or Haaland—we doubt the answer would be very close.
The Norwegian is, of course, a terrific player. In the history of football, few players have scored goals at the pace he does. If he keeps playing this way, he’ll be remembered as one of the deadliest men to have ever played the game.
Bent does, however, point out that Salah isn’t all that bad in front of goal.
It’s true that Mo kind of fell flat on his face when playing Haaland in the same league for the first time last year. Even so, his final Premier League total of 19 was equal to the Egyptian’s lowest ever.
Haaland, meanwhile, destroyed Salah’s record for goals in a 38-game season with 36 goals. Mo will have been hurt by that, and he entered this campaign determined to defeat everyone. Salah is still in the running for the title after pundit Karen Carney predicted he would surpass Haaland at the beginning of the campaign.
The younger man leads 13 to 10, but the Reds player is not giving up. As he approaches his tally at the Etihad, he will be pleading with his defenders to maintain control over Haaland.
Nevertheless, you would consistently wager on Haaland to outscore everyone during the season. But Bent raises an excellent argument on Salah’s additional abilities. Because Mo is an all-around threat, we believe Liverpool supporters wouldn’t have to make too many decisions in this situation. Despite his efficiency, Haaland isn’t.
If you cut off his supply lines, you can maintain the 23-year-old at a distance. As City has learned all too frequently over the years, Salah is a finisher as well as a supplier. We are aware of our choice. We all praise the King of Egypt.
