According to recent sources, Nico Williams, who was linked to Liverpool earlier this year, and Athletic Bilbao are at a standstill in their contract negotiations.
Liverpool is not the only team interested in Nico Williams, according to a recent report by writer Graeme Bailey on the Talking Transfers Podcast.
Recent reports from El Correo indicate that Williams’ contract negotiations with Athletic Bilbao, a Spanish team, have stopped, raising concerns about his future with the team.
Though there are problems and the contract negotiations have halted, it appears that the two parties did made progress. It doesn’t seem like a quick fix is in reach.
Contract negotiations between Athletic Bilbao and Liverpool target Nico Williams are on hold
Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, is undoubtedly constantly looking to acquire players, thus it makes logical that Williams might be signed.
The “incredible” forward has exceptional speed, ball control, and finishing ability. Throughout his 95 appearances for his current team, he has contributed 25 goals.
It makes sense for younger stars like Williams, who is only 21 years old, to be signed and be prepared for when the elite players at the Premier League club inevitably depart, especially with players like Mohamed Salah still performing at such a high level.
Williams has made ten appearances for Spain as well, demonstrating his status as a high talent for the future.
It will be intriguing to watch who Liverpool ultimately purchases. Williams’s contract really expires in June 2024, so if his negotiations with Bilbao go down, Liverpool may wind up acquiring a fantastic player for nothing.
