Packers Green Bay HC Aaron Jones Is Called Out by Matt LaFleur Following the Pittsburgh Steelers Loss
The Green Bay Packers learned a lot from their heartbreaking Sunday afternoon loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. To start, Green Bay had plenty of opportunities to win the game and possibly go on to win two straight after defeating the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9.
Packers Green Bay HC Matt LaFleur Is the Only One Jones, Aaron
Head coach Matt LaFleur is most impressed with one play from Sunday’s 20-17 loss against Kenny Pickett and company. Though it’s not as though the seasoned play-caller is placing all the responsibility on one specific mistake made late in the game, LaFleur did not hold back when criticising star running back Aaron Jones for his choices made during Green Bay’s last drive:
“I felt like we had a chance to go out of bounds there, but we didn’t. That was crucial as a great deal of time was squandered. At the conclusion of the game, we would have had a few of opportunities. That lasted for around 20 seconds. According to LaFleur, via Freddie Boston of Lombardi Avenue, “It felt like forever.”
LaFleur was alluding to Jones’ choice, with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter, to fight for additional yards rather than go out of bounds. The Pro Bowl running back made a costly mistake that cost them 20 seconds in the game. In the end, it prevented the Packers from scoring on their last play.
Nor was LaFleur finished. Later in his post-game news conference, the coach revisited the play while talking about his team’s last drive:
LaFleur stated, “I really think the play that really hurt us obviously was wasting so much time when we checked it down to Aaron Jones. Our guys got up on the ball in a timely fashion, with some urgency.”
