Coach Jürgen Klopp always looks for ways to make the most of these extended breaks in which some of his most important players play for their national teams. But, beyond Klopp obtaining game statistics from those international elements, the Reds coach does not want to see a severe workload on some of his men who are leaving with some discomfort due to minor injuries. This is true regardless of whether a FIFA date stops all types of activity at Liverpool. Many Reds football players will be participating in various international competitions during this November international break. Klopp, however, is most concerned about the integrity of his central defender, Ibrahima Konate, whom he rested in the game against Brentford in an attempt to recover it fully for the match against Manchester City at the end of the month. Recent information from the Reds coach suggests that he has somewhat criticised Didier Deschamps’ decision to use this player as sparingly as possible.
This was evident in the France vs. Scotland match a few weeks ago, where Konate played a significant portion of the game despite experiencing some physical discomfort that limited his ability to engage in such intense activity. Given Ibrahima’s current hamstring issue, Davis is anticipated to show some consideration and refrain from exerting more pressure on him than he is capable of handling.
Klopp claims that this coach illustrates how this scenario may recur because, in his view, club coaches and the national team have completely different interests. This predicament Klopp and the Reds find themselves in is a circumstance that affects many clubs throughout much of Europe due to the poor choices made by a national coach who ultimately demands more from a key player within a sports organisation.
Deschamps wants to stop fighting with Klopp
While I do not entirely agree with Klopp’s remarks, I do believe that in this call-up to the France team, Didier has given the Reds player no opportunity to play against Greece or Gibraltar. This will give Klopp and the Reds with Konate time to recuperate from the discomfort that kept him out of a few games, with his return scheduled for the end of the month against Manchester City.
