Packers’ Week 10 loss to the Steelers produced five winners and losers.
It looked like the Green Bay Packers may turn things around and win consecutive games for the first time this year. But they lost 19 to 23 and were defeated again, this time by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It is evident that winning in the NFL is difficult as Green Bay lost by four points, their fourth one-score loss of the season. They failed to score more than 20 points for the eighth straight game, demonstrating how difficult life is without Aaron Rodgers.
Though they ended the season with a 3–6 record, Green Bay showed some encouraging signs in their performance in Week 10. Let’s examine five players from the Packers vs. Steelers game who won and lost.
Jordan Love, Christian Watson, and other players are among the five winners and losers from the Green Bay Packers’ Week 10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Packers Explosive Plays won.
In Week 10, Green Bay’s offence was far more potent. Jordan Love tossed for 289 yards, a career-high. Many large passing plays, including ones of 46 yards to Jayden Reed, 36 yards to Luke Musgrave, 35 yards to Reed for a touchdown, another 28 yards to Musgrave, 32 yards to Dontayvion Wicks, and another 20 yards to Romeo Doubs, aided with that. Oh, and there was a 40-yard scamper tossed in by AJ Dillon.
The explosiveness of the Packers’ offence, which has been lacking this season, is greatly appreciated. They didn’t play poorly, as seen by their 19-point outing. It was caused by the subsequent element.
Red Zone Offence loses.
Green Bay had no trouble moving into the scoring zone. They only managed one touchdown despite entering the 20 on five separate times. Two field goals and two Love interceptions were part of their other excursions. They currently sit 27th in the NFL in red zone touchdown %, which has been a recurring trend throughout the season.
Champion: Jayden Reed
With a career-high 84 receiving yards and one score on five grabs, Reed played the finest game of his career. And he caught every one of his five targets. A 35-yard touchdown and a 35-yard reception helped Reed. His ability to separate the ball was evident, which was encouraging for an offence that has struggled to move the ball effectively this year.
Packers Run Defence Loser
Even though Kenny Pickett, the starting quarterback for the Steelers, only passed for 126 yards, the Packers’ shoddy run defence made little impact. The Steelers’ running assault amassed over 200 yards on the ground, paced by Jaylen Warren (15 carries for 101 yards) and Najee Harris (16 carries for 82 yards). At the line of scrimmage, the Packers’ defensive line frequently appeared disoriented and intimidated.
Loser: Christian Watson and Jordan Love connection
Despite being targeted seven times in all, Christian Watson managed just two receptions for a total of 23 yards. Love picked up both of his interceptions when he was pursuing Watson, one a difficult one with just over three minutes left in the fourth quarter where the defensive back smacked the pass away and straight into the hands of his teammate. The agile wide receiver has been a total letdown in Year 2 following a breakthrough rookie year.
