Amid reports of a player worth £42 million, Pep Guardiola today reveals if he would sell to Liverpool.
In response to rumours that Liverpool is interested in signing Kalvin Phillips, Pep Guardiola stated that he would be okay with selling a player to the Reds.
The Manchester City boss stated that if a transaction benefited everyone, he would have no issues conducting business with the Anfield team in an interview with the media via the Mirror.
The report claims that Liverpool is interested in signing Phillips because the £42 million player is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium in January after sitting on the bench for the previous 12 months.
Guardiola appears comfortable doing business with the Reds provided the deal benefits both the team and the player, despite the fact that City supporters may not want to see Phillips go to Liverpool.
Guardiola remarked, “What’s the problem, if they want to go to Chelsea or [Manchester] United or, I don’t know, Liverpool, whatever? Both the club and them are content with the transfer. them are glad to be there.
It’s okay since the other club is content with the amount of money they spend. We shall continue in a positive attitude and good spirits when another player approaches us.”
Guardiola’s remarks might allude to Phillips moving from City to Liverpool.
Good players from City are frequently sold to Premier League opponents; Raheem Sterling joined Chelsea last year, and Arsenal signed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinechenko.
And with Liverpool fiercely vying for the signing of the England international in the January transfer window, Phillips might be the next player to take such a step.
In addition, Guardiola’s remarks imply that a deal is now likely, as Phillips may wish to join Liverpool in 2024 in order to revitalise his career.
