If he moved to Anfield, Arsenal defender Ben White would start at right-back for Liverpool.
Despite being signed by Arsenal as a £50 million center-back, White has spent the majority of the previous 18 months playing right back. The 26-year-old has performed admirably as the Gunners want to establish themselves as legitimate title contenders.
And according to pundit Robbie Savage, he’s shown enough that if he were to join Liverpool, he’d be a starter for Jurgen Klopp.
Savage proposed that White start ahead of current right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold on BBC 5 Live via TeamTALK.
After receiving a phone from a Reds supporter who was complimenting the Arsenal player, the former Wales international said, “Would Ben White make Liverpool stronger in that position [right-back]?”
“I believe he has spent much of his Arsenal career at right back. First choice would go to Ben White. What would he set you back? How much would he cost given that they paid £50 million for him and that he is currently playing for a team that only lost one league game this season and pushed Man City the previous one?
Savage makes White suggestion
While we’re used to some pretty ludicrous opinions from pundits in this nation, this Savage’s opinion is right up there.
To begin with, let’s acknowledge that White is an excellent player. He has performed admirably at right back for Arsenal, and he would start for many teams in the Premier League and throughout Europe.
But Liverpool isn’t one of those teams. With one of the best right-backs in a generation, the Reds are in luck. There isn’t a single Premier League player right now who should start ahead of Alexander-Arnold.
It goes without saying that the 25-year-old has shortcomings, which the media is frequently eager to point out. But few can match him as a whole package.

White most definitely does not fit that description.
The former Brighton player is alright, but he’s no Trent. He’s a solid and trustworthy defender who may be better than he’s given credit for going forward.
Can you picture him pinging perfectly placed passes of 50 or 60 yards across the pitch with the same ease as Alexander-Arnold does each week? Of course you can’t.
It will take a while for Liverpool to find a player to replace Trent when they do. Fortunately, they shouldn’t have to carry out that task for a few more years. White won’t be on the list when they do.
