The search for the father of Colombian football player Luis Díaz, who was abducted on Saturday, October 28, in Barracas, in the municipality of La Guajira, is still ongoing by the National Police and the army. President Gustavo Petro then declared that a more robust search had been launched for him in his speech following the regional elections.
The entire security apparatus has been mobilised to locate Luis Manuel Díaz, the father of football player Luis Díaz. To locate him, a more restricted search area has been set up in La Guajira. He clarified that the President has given the National Police and the Army orders to ensure his life and release as soon as possible and to find the people who are accountable for this regrettable incident.
General William Salamanca had earlier declared that anyone with useful information leading to the location of Luis Manuel Díaz, the father of the striker for Liverpool and Colombia, may get a prize of up to 200 million pesos. “By decision of @MinDefensa @Ivan_Velasquez a reward of up to $200 million pesos is offered for information that allows the rescue of Mr. Luis Manuel Díaz and the capture of those responsible for this criminal action,” according to the post on the X account.
Distinctions between FSG and Abramovich
A 2018 incident involving former Chelsea player John Obi Mikel was strikingly similar to the kidnapping of Luis Diaz’s parents. 2018 saw the abduction of his father, Pa Michael Obi, shortly before Argentina and Nigeria squared off in the Russia 2018 World Cup group stage. “Chelsea provided excellent support. Do you want me to send people, Roman (Abramovich) asked me, as I recall. I can release your father if I send people, that’s why.’How are you going to do that?’ was my thought. I shouldn’t worry about it, he said. “If you would like that option, let me know and I can make it happen.” John Obi Mikel’s father was freed a week later. FSG, on the other hand, limited their communications of support for Diaz to social media.
