Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat is still amazed by LeBron James’ longevity.
LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, who is 38 years old, is not slowing down in advance of Monday’s game against the Miami Heat.
Heat of Miami
LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is still one of the league’s top players at the age of 38.
And there are no indications that he will slow down.
James is starting Monday’s game against the Miami Heat with an average of 24.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 6.3 assists.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra stated, “I’ve said this before, he’s redefining what is possible with human performance at that age.” And that speaks highly of his work ethic. The extent to which he dedicates his life to his game is something that I believe is not discussed enough. He doesn’t consider it a given. He is not arrogant about his skills.
Between 2010 and 2014, James was a member of the Miami Heat, helping the team win two titles in four consecutive NBA Finals trips. In 2020, he defeated the Heat to win titles with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Lakers as well.
“He matches the talent with a work ethic, and you don’t see that very often, particularly when you’re the most-talented guy in the league,” Spoelstra stated. “I would say the average fan would not even notice the difference, and it would be very easy to put in half the time.” But you would need to be dedicating a lot of time and effort behind the scenes to play at that calibre of extraordinary level.
