Even though Ibrahima Konate’s name has become less well-known within the Liverpool team in recent months of play, the legendary defensive centre for the Reds keeps quietly proving why he is still one of the team’s most transcendent players. Coach Jürgen Klopp’s squad benefits from Konate’s ability to impart to his teammates not only his defender experience but also his moral principles.
When they played Bournemouth in the EFL Cup round of 16, a few days back, Konate’s ideals off the pitch came to light. A Twitter account shared a clip of a film in which It displays the French defender urging Dominik Szoboszlai to the stands after some youthful club supporters were asking him for autographs.
In the eleven seconds that the video lasts, you can see how these two players were getting ready to head to the locker room at Vitality Stadium. However, the French defender stopped Dominik on his way to take him to their location, when he noticed these young supporters request. This modest yet meaningful gesture made by Konate and Szoboszlai to their supporters is just one example of the immense gratitude they feel every time the team plays away. For this reason, Merseyside fans were the ones in the stands cheering the loudest during the match against Bournemouth, and they also gave a glorious shout of celebration when Darwin Nunez scored a spectacular goal to make it a 2-1 victory.
Konate needs to continues in constant progress
The second central defender for the Reds has had a quiet season thus far, contributing to the team’s success but falling short of the harmony that the vast majority of the group enjoys. Konate is finding it difficult to keep making progress that leaves room for speculation about whether a member of the bench could eventually replace him, and Jarrell Quansah is, above all, the most qualified young player to succeed in his place given what this youngster has demonstrated during this season of group consolidation.
