Endo suggests a “tough” explanation for his dearth of Premier League starts.
After joining from Stuttgart, Wataru Endo has only started one Premier League match for Liverpool, and he has made some insinuations as to why.
Many people anticipated that Endo would play in the Premier League more frequently than he has since signing. The Japan captain made his only league start at Newcastle, despite having made 11 appearances for Liverpool.
In a Sky Sports interview, Endo discussed how he is still getting used to playing Premier League football.
“Physical, technical, and speed are all different,” the defensive midfielder remarked.
The Premier League is in play. I don’t play in the Premier League very much, but the one time I did play against Newcastle was a really difficult match for me. There’s a lot of speed, and things have changed.
Endo’s performances have been far from bad despite his need for time; his best came against Toulouse in the Europa League.
After scoring an incredible header, Liverpool’s No. 3 remembered the experience, adding, “The atmosphere at Anfield was amazing when I scored.” I was thrilled to win that game and I’m glad I scored in Anfield.
Over the past three weeks, the Japanese have been discovering the Japanese restaurants in the city while they settle down on Merseyside.
However, Endo believes that “playing football is everything,” and he has high expectations for the team.
“My goal upon arriving here was to win every award possible,” the 30-year-old remarked.
Though he stated he is only paying attention to each game, he acknowledged that Liverpool is in a title race. He continued, “If we keep doing that, we can try and achieve what we want.”
Endo is proven to be a vital option for Liverpool in all of the competitions they are participating in and can only get better there.
