Update your fantasy running back lineup, if necessary.
Running back Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers left Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns due to an oblique injury and did not come back, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports.
In case McCaffrey is doubtful for the 49ers’ Week 7 Monday game against the Minnesota Vikings, here are three RB possibilities to look for on the waiver wire.
Elijah Mitchell, a running back for the Niners, may soon see an increase in value. After McCaffrey left the game at the end of the third quarter on Sunday, he began the fourth quarter and, if the 49ers’ primary starter is still sidelined, he will probably see additional touches.
Chuba Hubbard, the running back for the Carolina Panthers (ranked No. 4 on the Week 6 waiver rankings by Fantasy Pros), is also gaining favor after he scored his first touchdown of the year on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
Due to a shoulder ailment, Dolphins starter Miles Sanders was not able to practice this week. Due to the team’s bye in Week 7, Hubbard will not be playing. However, if Sanders, who injured his shoulder while recovering from a groin strain in August, keeps getting hurt, Hubbard may see more playing time in Week 8.
Prior to playing the majority of the Bears’ snaps on Sunday, Chicago Bears running back D’Onta Foreman (ranked sixth on the Week 6 waiver rankings) had been out of the game for four weeks. Following Chicago’s decision to rule out running backs Travis Homer, Roschon Johnson, and Khalil Herbert for Sunday’s game against the Vikings, Foreman was the next man up.
Foreman is probably going to see more playing time in the coming weeks, especially since Herbert will be sidelined for at least three more games.
Before Week 7, there may be other roster modifications that fantasy players need to do in addition to swapping out running backs. Three quarterbacks with major injuries on Sunday were Ryan Tannehill of the Tennessee Titans, Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Justin Fields of the Bears.
