Mike Tomlin Breaks Silence On Kenny Pickett Trade
Nevertheless, the organization has been working hard to implement these changes over the NFL offseason, and one of those was reportedly the franchise’s decision to fire longstanding head coach Mike Tomlin in order to introduce a fresh perspective to the locker room.
But the Steelers decided to keep Tomlin on for at least a season in order to fully concentrate on improving the quarterback position, which turned out to be the team’s major weakness in the 2023 campaign.
The biggest surprise was not only signing Wilson but also trading for Pickett and adding Fields. Tomlin recently talked about the reasoning for the transaction, as reported by ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
He thought that it would be beneficial to have a change of scenery. Those dominoes obviously started to fall when we sensed that the deal with Chicago was headed in the proper path, according to Tomlin.
Pickett will now back up superstar Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia, who will probably be the starter for a very long time, thus it’s unlikely that he will ever get another chance to start in the NFL.
