The Los Angeles Lakers were viewed as one of the best teams in the NBA ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.
Although the Lakers made several changes to the roster during the offseason, it didn’t really help the team in improving.
After all, with more than half of the games already being played this season, the Lakers are still the 10th seed in the Western Conference with a 21-21 record.
As a result, it’s no surprise that the Lakers are tilting toward the decision to trade for another player before the February 08 trade deadline.
According to Jovan Buha via The Athletic, the Lakers are already in deep trade discussions with the Atlanta Hawks for acquiring Dejounte Murray.
As per the above-attached tweet, the Lakers are ready to include D’Angelo Russell, Jalen Hood-Schifino, a 2029 First-Round draft pick, and additional draft compensation.
The Lakers already have the dynamic duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who have been extremely healthy this season.
On the other hand, Dejounte Murray is averaging 21.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game for the Atlanta Hawks this season.
Considering the Hawks are struggling to win games, trading Murray away could help the franchise take the first step toward a rebuilding stage.
As of now, the Hawks are the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 17-23 record this season.
