Darwin Nunez, a striker for Liverpool, will only get better in the upcoming seasons.
Nunez has caused division ever since he joined Liverpool in the summer of 2022. Despite the fact that Reds supporters appreciate his work ethic, character, and quality, the 24-year-old has frequently been made fun of by the public.
All agree, however, that Darwin has improved much this year. However, commentator Chris Sutton asserted yesterday night on The Monday Night Club that Liverpool’s No. 9 will improve much more soon.
The former striker stated, “Just going back to Nunez, I think he has all the attributes but he’s not a clean finisher.” “And occasionally, despite his strength and ability to hold the ball in, some of his hold-up play is not clean enough with some of his link-up play.
However, I believe that occasionally he is the kind of player that is unsure of his next move when he has the ball, which might make him more dangerous.
“I think he’s one of those players who, given another season or two, will be extremely dangerous. His finishing will also improve, even though he still scores a lot of goals; that’s just the last piece of the puzzle,” the analyst said. Is he ever going to be a born finisher? [Erling] Haaland missed opportunities, I know that. Though I doubt it, he’ll put in a lot of effort to get there.
Sutton supports Nunez’s evolution.
The same comment seems to have been made about Nunez often since he joined Liverpool: “Yes, he misses chances, but he’s raw, he is going to be something special.”
This has probably been said more in hope than expectation from a Reds perspective on a number of occasions. Darwin certainly showed a lot of promise, especially in the previous season, but there were also indications that he might not be ready.
However, this effort has demonstrated that those forecasts were accurate. The Uruguayan is significantly more improved in almost every facet of his game.
Although he doesn’t always seem tidy, as Sutton notes, it doesn’t really matter given how successful he is. Nunez has already contributed four assists and four goals in the Premier League, demonstrating his versatility as a striker.
The most recent instance of this was Sunday’s victory over Brentford. After the game, Jurgen Klopp gave his No. 9 a lot of praise, and the manager has every reason to be happy with the progress Nunez has made.
Darwin will continue to improve with time and as long as he is open to receiving guidance from professionals such as Luis Suarez.
The Uruguayan international will probably never be a clean finisher, but Liverpool doesn’t really need him to be. He causes more trouble than just not getting the ball into the net.
When Nunez was brought in, we were aware that we wouldn’t be receiving the completed piece. But it’s fascinating to watch where his growth leads. So far, it’s been quite the ride, and you sometimes get the impression that things could get worse before getting better. Darwin, though, will succeed.
