Georgia football entered spring ball with a whopping 11 injuries already, with a majority of them preventing the player from participating at all throughout the spring. This obviously is already setting Georgia back because the development of all 11 players will be stunted because of this.
The hope going forward now is that the Bulldogs will be able to avoid anymore injuries for as long as possible. Obviously there will be injuries at some point this spring considering football is a super physical sport, but the hope is there will be very few and they won’t be serious.
That however was not the case on Saturday during Georgia’s third practice of the year when a wide receiver went down with an ankle injury that will keep him sidelined for the rest of spring ball.
Tyler Williams’ injury comes at worst time
Injuries during the spring are bad for anyone, but they are especially bad for incoming freshman. It takes awhile to adjust to playing college football out of high school, especially in the SEC at a program like Georgia. So that is why this injury is so heartbreaking
Incoming freshman Tyler Williams suffered an ankle injury on Saturday where he tore a few ligaments that will require surgery. Williams is a four-star wide receiver who was an early enrollee at Georgia as he was looking to develop into a player that could contribute on the field this coming fall. That however is going to be very difficult to accomplish after this injury.
Williams seeing the field this fall was already going to be challenging enough due to how deep UGA’s wide receiver room is, but this injury will only make that even more challenging. So it will be interesting to see when Williams is healthy again and if Kirby Smart and his staff are able to carve out some playing time for him this fall.
