NY Racing Team has announced plans to attempt qualifying for the 2025 Daytona 500, with veteran driver J.J. Yeley set to pilot the No. 44 Chevrolet Camaro.
Crew chief Jay Guy confirmed the team’s intentions during a recent interview, stating, “We’re going to enjoy the holidays with our families and spend a little time, and then we’re going to get back at it and ready for Daytona.”
NY Racing, owned by Johnathan Cohen, has participated intermittently in the NASCAR Cup Series since 2012. In the 2024 season, the team attempted nine races, with Yeley driving in eight events. Their bid to qualify for the 2024 Daytona 500 fell just short, missing the cut in the final moments of the Bluegreen Vacations Duel.
Looking ahead, Guy emphasized the importance of sponsorships for the team’s 2025 plans, noting, “There’s nothing really to announce yet; a lot of our season is pending on sponsorship. We need sponsors to be able to play in this great sport of NASCAR.”
Yeley, a Phoenix native, has been a consistent presence in NY Racing’s lineup and will aim to secure a spot in the prestigious Daytona 500, scheduled for February 2025.
