Demary made 9 of 11 free throws, while Newell, a rookie forward who led the Bulldogs with an average of 16.8 points per game, shot 7 of 8 from the field. Georgia (5-0) has now won 22 straight games at home against nonconference opponents.
Somto Cyril scored 11 points and nine boards, Tyrin Lawrence added 12 points and six steals, and Georgia shot 53%, made nine 3-pointers, and made 28 of its 41 free throws. Georgia’s score on the boards was plus-25. Dylan McLean scored 11 points to lead Alabama A&M (3-2), which finished fifth in the country with an average of 99.5 points per game.
