Pittsburgh Steelers WR trade target sustain season-ending shoulder injury

Potential Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver trade target Christian Kirk sustained a broken collarbone that will keep him out for the rest of the season, ruining Jacksonville’s plans to trade the veteran wide receiver. Kirk, 27, was elevated for a catch by Trevor Lawrence and slammed down onto his left shoulder, causing the injury.
The Steelers’ trade market targets continue to dwindle. Mike Williams makes the most sense at this point, and while Diontae Johnson will be traded, a little-known rule will prevent a trade for Johnson to come back to the Steelers.
The rule states that once a team trades a player, they can not reacquire that player via trade until at least two years after the execution of the trade.
Williams and the Jets lost to the New England Patriots on Sunday, meaning they could be open to moving him. However, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network says that the Jets will not just trade him for anything, and they want to get a fair price after paying him most of his salary this season. Otherwise, they might just keep Williams for depth.
