The Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams have talked about a potential Cooper Kupp trade and Pittsburgh is interested in acuqiriong the superstar wide receiver, Dianna Russini of the Athletic reports.
The Rams are unwilling to pay Kupp’s salary after their win and will not budge on their asking price of a second-round pick or more.
“Bills and Steelers are among the teams that have either called L.A. or that L.A. reached out to to discuss a trade scenario. The Rams toyed with paying a small chunk of Kupp’s salary to make a trade more palatable, but have informed most suitors that this is not an option,” Russini wrote.
The price went up for Kupp after their win against the Minnesota Vikings, which means this trade is almost certainly off the table for the Steelers, even if they are clearly interested in making the move—someone like Mike Williams, Darius Slayton, or Adam Thielen. Those are not the flashiest names, but they are what the Steelers look at in the current wide receiver market. They need to add somebody to the room to upgrade who they currently have, and a pick involving a day three pick is likely the way, rather than trading a ransom to land Kupp.
