The New York Giants are signing former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Chris Hubbard to their active roster from the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad. Hubbard will remain on the Giants’ active roster for at least the next three weeks as a result of the move.
The Giants need the help after stalwart offensive tackle Andrew Thomas suffered a foot injury that could force him to miss the rest of the season. With 58 starts of his career across four different teams, Hubbard can help the Giants with their immediate depth needs.
Hubbard has spent time with the Steelers, 49ers, Cleveland Browns, and Tennessee Titans. He started nine games in 2023 for the Titans when injuries hit their offensive line room.
An undrafted free agent out of UAB in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Steelers snapped Hubbard up off the open market. He spent five seasons with the team from 2013 to 2017 before leaving for Cleveland, where he would spend another five seasons. The 33 year old offensive tackle remains quality veteran depth in the NFL and will help the ailing Giants offensive line.
