The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed former Denver Broncos pass rusher Marcus Haynes. Haynes returns after Alex Highsmith suffered a groin injury that will likely sideline him for two or three weeks. He will help out on the scout team, and the Steelers could look to elevate someone like Ade Ogundeji for help in the outside linebacker rotation moving forward.
DeMarvin Leal and Nick Herbig are set to significantly increase their snaps along with T.J. Watt in that room. Someone like Ogundeji or Haynes, who could bring some special teams help, could be in line for a practice squad elevation over the next few weeks.
An undrafted free agent out of Old Dominion in the 2023 NFL Draft, Haynes first signed with the Steelers near the end of training camp. Sine entering the NFL, he had stints with the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and Cleveland Browns.
With Haynes’ addition to the practice squad, the Steelers still have one open spot on their practice squad to fill. They will likely add someone to the room tomorrow at another position where they need help.
