Pittsburgh Steelers Land New deal with Texas Wide Receiver
“I think I’ve met with fifteen or more teams. I have met with several teams. By this we mean half the league. It appears like the Cowboys, Texans, Bucs, and Steelers have been in excellent communication. I’ve probably had meetings with fifteen or more teams,” Whittington said.
The fact that he is a willing blocker with the necessary stature to contribute there at the next level is maybe most significant. He is a tremendous team player who always goes above and beyond for teammates on the perimeter. The Steelers would pursue Whittington in the late round.
Zach Azzanni, the wide receivers coach for the Steelers, was there at Texas Pro Day, so this makes perfect sense. Azzanni left for Texas to see Whittington, Xavier Worthy, and AD Mitchell. Worthy and Mitchell are probably first-round selections. Whittington, meanwhile, may be acquired with one of Pittsburgh’s third-round picks, particularly if they want to double up at the position.
