BREAKING NEWS: Pitt CB M.J. Devonshire Has Just Cancelled the Scheduled Pre-Draft Visit with Steelers
Pittsburgh — At Pitt’s pro day on Wednesday, M.J. Devonshire, a former cornerback for Pitt and Aliquippa, revealed to Steelers Now that the Pittsburgh Steelers will be visiting him for a pre-draft visit.
As a redshirt senior in 2023, he had the finest season of his college career with 32 tackles, 10 passes defended, and four interceptions—one of which he recovered for a score. During his three years with the Panthers, Devonshire has eight interceptions and three pick-sixes.
Devonshire is not just a skilled cornerback but also a valuable member of the special teams unit. During his collegiate career, he averaged 7.4 yards per punt return and scored one touchdown.
Devonshire performed a 4.45-second 40-yard sprint and a 1.54-second 10-yard split at the 2024 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. His best jumps were a 10-foot-4 broad jump, a 3-cone drill in 7.12 seconds, a shuttle run of 4.35 seconds, and a vertical leap of 38.5 inches. He performed 10 repetitions of the bench press and lowered his three-cone time to 6.84 during the Pitt pro day on Wednesday.
Devonshire did not count against the team’s quota of 30 pre-draft visitors since he played football in high school and college in close proximity to the Steelers (Pitt’s pro day was held at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex indoor facility that Pitt shares with the Steelers).
