Bob Stoops Says College Football Needs a Commissioner, Present Another Significant Issue
To suggest that things have changed since he stepped off the field, though, would be an understatement given how drastically collegiate football has evolved since he departed in 2016.
Even so, Stoops doesn’t miss much that impacts the Sooners, as someone who follows everything in the sports world. In the end, Bob Stoops is maybe the only person in the world who truly knows Oklahoma football.
In an interview with Cleveland radio station 92.3 The Fan earlier this week, Stoops expressed his disgust at the way things have been ran so thin.
It’s not excellent. It’s not very beneficial for anybody, in my opinion,” Stoops declared last week. Is it possible to last? To my mind, it isn’t.
However, Stoops has a solution for the problems with NIL and the transfer site that college football is facing. A commissioner of college football.
“College football is a pro model right now,” stated Stoops. It’s a professional model. Thus, it is not governed by the NCAA. There must be a commissioner. Salary limitations are a must for limiting personal spending. Contracts are a must, end of story. If things keep continuing this way, I fail to see how you can’t.
The NCAA undoubtedly put itself in this problem, and there’s a fair possibility they won’t be able to solve it on their own without outside assistance. Although the Kadyn Proctor incident has undoubtedly shed greater focus on the problems, more may need to happen before significant improvements are implemented.
As suggested by Stoops, unless reforms are implemented, college football will persist in imposing its will on what has been considered appropriate for the duration of the game.
