T.J. Watt recently made a claim that the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to…
T.J. Watt, an outside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, spoke on the team’s offseason decisions while winning his AFC Defensive Player of the Year award at Wednesday night’s 101 Awards in Kansas City. Watt discussed the Steelers’ offseason actions, his eagerness to play alongside Russell Wilson, and the difficulty of competing in the AFC in a video that Fox 4 Kansas City’s PJ Green shared on Twitter.
I’m excited for both of them because there will be a lot of new faces and some really big new faces, guys who have played at a high level, like Russ, who has won a Super Bowl in the locker room. TJ Watt discussing the quarterback room with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson.
“Since my entire career [in Pittsburgh], I have not won a playoff game, so I’m open to any kind of information.”
Wilson’s experience and talent should offer the Steelers a greater opportunity to win than they had with Kenny Pickett. For years, the Steelers’ offense has been problematic.
To assist stars like Watt and Cameron Heyward further their careers, the Steelers must make the playoffs soon. They each only have one postseason victory between them and have never participated in a Super Bowl. The Steelers haven’t operated like they usually do during the summer, but that’s because they’re desperate to start winning after years of being written off in January.
We’ll have to wait and see if the actions pay off, but Watt appears eager to assist Wilson adjust to Pittsburgh’s culture and the Steelers, as well as learn from someone who has won a Super Bowl.
