Michigan football’s new d-line coach arrested for OWI
The Michigan football team’s offseason has been somewhat interesting thus far, and it continued late on Friday night into Saturday morning when Greg Scruggs, the team’s new defensive line coach, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated. After Jim Harbaugh left Michigan, the Wolverines hired Wisconsin’s Scruggs, one of several coaches Michigan lost. For now, Scruggs is placed on indefinite leave.
Head coach of the Michigan football team Sherrone Moore released a statement saying, “Greg made an unfortunate mistake and was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.” “He accepted responsibility for his acts and offered no justifications. Greg has been placed on indefinite leave by the athletic department and football program while the incident’s specifics are investigated.
In 2018, Greg Scruggs began his career as a coach after joining Cincinnati as a director of player development. Before joining the New York Jets as an assistant defensive line coach, he was the defensive line coach for the Bearcats. Prior to joining Michigan this offseason, he played for Wisconsin the previous season.
Obviously, Michigan is quite saddened by this news during an already dramatic offseason. Although Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines appeared to have made a wonderful hire, it is evident that things are not going well so far.
