UNBELIEVABLE: Mike Tomlin fine $500,000 for sexual assault at a player
Russell Wilson wasted little time finding his new NFL home after getting released by the Denver Broncos. The nine-time Pro Bowler is officially taking his talents to play with the historic Pittsburgh Steelers, who needed more competency at quarterback after watching Kenny Pickett and others languish over the last two seasons.
But there’s one important dynamic we can’t forget as Wilson potentially prepares to tell “Steelers Country, let’s weld” very soon: What’s his relationship going to be like with the no-nonsense Mike Tomlin?
Tomlin is, of course, one of the greatest coaches in NFL history. He is a no-doubt First-Ballot Hall of Famer and has yet to experience a single losing season in Pittsburgh in nearly two decades as a coach, regardless of the quality of his rosters. Wilson is undoubtedly a huge upgrade at quarterback for a veteran leader accustomed to dragging his team to competency of late. No one’s denying that. But Wilson’s probably also a bit of a different bird of a player than Tomlin has experience with.
Naturally, NFL fans saw this discrepancy and had a lot of jokes about Tomlin’s working relationship with his new veteran quarterback.
