Micah Parsons Continues Bashing Steelers’ T.J. Watt
Now, two calls against Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt have been made by the Dallas Cowboys star.
Pittsburgh Superstar T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers lost out on winning the Defensive Player of the Year Award in spite of leading the NFL in sacks and outperforming Myles Garrett in almost all statistical categories.
Since then, Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys, one of the finalists, has stated that he doesn’t think Watt ought to have one. He is now going to double down on his tirade against the Steelers edge rusher, claiming that Watt isn’t among the top five pass rushers in the entire league.
Parsons told CBS Radio, “I think I’m probably the best pure speed pass rusher.”If you’re talking about defensive ends, I’d say I was the best this year based on my win percentage. However, if you’re talking about pure pass rushers, then run and everything else. That would be me, then.
I would then mention Myles, Maxx, Nick Bosa, and finally, I would say, “Look at the stats.” The numbers are real. Though I believe Alex Highsmith may have had a higher pass rush win rate, he was either fifth or sixth. If you want to be really statistical, he had a more double team rate than T.J. Watt. This isn’t my stuff, you know.
In any case, Parsons is not incorrect. According to Pro Football Focus, Watt had a pass rush win percentage of 16.9%, while Alex Highsmith had an 18% finish.
Even so, Watt’s season was noteworthy for those examining the box chart’s numbers, as he set a record by leading the league in sacks for the third time at the end of the campaign.
