Leading Buyout Player Signing Is Preferred By LA
Your Los Angeles Lakers might not be completely idle on the ledger if there is a quiet trade deadline because the buyout market is almost finalized, which could lead to some possible signings.
Spencer Dinwiddie, a former guard for the Brooklyn Nets who is reportedly a trade target for the Lakers, is one of them. He was traded by Brooklyn to the Toronto Raptors before being bought out to free up cap space. According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Lakers are currently among the front-runners to sign him.
The 6-foot-5 Los Angeles native is a versatile, big-bodied guard with a lot of upside on both sides of the ball, even though he’s having a rough year. This season, he is averaging 12.6 points and six assists per game.
Dinwiddie was an excellent sixth man for the Dallas Mavericks during their run to the Western Conference Finals a few years ago. In his 78 regular season games, he shot over 40% from three-point range.
His role, head coach Jacque Vaughn, and the team’s struggles have been his problems in Brooklyn, but a lot should change in his hometown of Los Angeles.
With Gabe Vincent’s likely return, Dinwiddie would join perhaps the deepest backcourt in the NBA, which presents an intriguing role for the Lakers. With four guards capable of starting, LA joins a select group of teams in the league that have the depth to surround their stars.
