Steelers Growing ‘Impatient’ at Lack of Playoff Success
Since the Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t won a postseason game since 2016, many fans of the club believe it’s long past time for the group to find a means to triumph in the postseason. Following their defeat to the Buffalo Bills two weeks prior, team president Art Rooney II stated that the team desired further postseason success.
We’re done with this, Rooney declared. “Now is the moment to make progress; let’s move forward with these next steps.”
Rooney gave evidence that Tomlin still has what it takes to be a head coach, pointing to the team’s ability to flip a three-game losing streak into a four-game run that preserved their playoff aspirations. And Rooney included Tomlin in the chorus of frustrated people on Tuesday in an interview with Bob Pompeani of KDKA-TV.
“I expressed my frustration for many of us who have been with the organization for a long time—including Mike Tomlin—because we are growing impatient,” Rooney remarked. “We wish to proceed to the next level. We wish to advance far in the postseason by winning playoff games.
We thereby miss becoming a part of it, and that is the point of urgency. We must resume our football games far into January and, ideally, February.
The 51-year-old will lead the Steelers for the 18th season as head coach. With a 173-100-2 career record, he is tied for the 11th most coaching victories in NFL history. However, he must figure out how to end his postseason losing skid. All of the regular season awards are essentially meaningless without it. And a large portion of the Steelers’ issues are on the offensive side of the ball. They are hoping that by hiring Arthur Smith, they may improve their current situation and have some postseason success.
