Zay Flowers fined $45,927 for taunting penalty against Chiefs
Due to a penalty he received in the AFC Championship Game, wide receiver Zay Flowers of the Ravens may miss some money.
Late in the third quarter, after Lamar Jackson had completed a 54-yard throw, Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed hit Flowers and forced Flowers to push off of Sneed, who was clinging to Flowers’ leg. Then Flowers threw the ball in Sneed’s direction and stepped in front of him, drawing a warning flag for taunting. The Ravens were now back at the Chiefs’ 25-yard line, but Flowers fumbled after attempting to dive into the end zone on another grab, ending the drive without a touchdown.
The NFL said on Saturday that Flowers had been fined $10,927 for the violation.
The league also contacted Travis Jones, a defensive tackle for the Ravens. For striking Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the head that raised a flag, Jones was fined $6,700.
