Jazz Assistant Coach Jason Terry Accused of Stealing $25,000 Watch

Recent news has placed a Utah Jazz coach in a storm of controversy. Long-time league veteran and now assistant NBA coach Jason Terry is being sued for agreeing to purchase and never paying for a Rolex watch worth $25,000, according to new court paper allegations.
As the story goes, Eric Mavachev, a prominent New York jeweler, lent the Rolex to Terry this summer to attend Drai’s, a nightclub based in Las Vegas. After going, Terry asked to purchase and keep the piece rather than return it.
The two agreed on a deal for Terry to buy the Rolex for the steep price tag of $25,000. However, the New York Post states the Jazz coach never actually sent the funds due to the jeweler paying for the watch after his rental:
“On July 10, Terry, 45 — who also played on the Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks — texted Mavachev asking for his bank account information, saying he’d wire the money on July 13, the court papers claim.”
“But the money never came and the 2011 NBA Champion never returned the wristwatch, the suit claims. Terry also ghosted Mavachev in a message from the next day saying he never received the funds, the filing alleges.”
Mavachev reportedly intends to press full legal action on Terry to pursue full payment for the watch. However, there has been no word from The Jet since the 30-day contractual grace period allowed to send the money owed.
Terry joined the Jazz coaching staff in 2022 after leading the Denver Nuggets G-League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Gold the season prior. He joined the NBA coaching scene after a successful 19-year career in the league, winning a championship with the Mavericks in 2011.
Still, in the early motions of this development, limited details remain about the pending lawsuit or any word from Terry’s camp on the issue.
