Florida’s Jacksonville Although the 49ers’ commanding 34-3 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday was undoubtedly just what San Francisco needed, defensive tackle Aaron Armstead found it to be excruciating.
Armstead had a fantastic start to the game as he and Devon Hargrave shared a sack to close the first series at EverBank Stadium.
However, Armstead suffered a right knee injury later in the first quarter while rushing quarterback Trevor Lawrence and attempting to beat Jaguars right guard Brandon Scherff with an inside spin move.
With respect to Scherff, the nine-year NFL veteran and five-time Pro Bowl player, Armstead stated, “He tripped me, kicked me in my knee and kind of messed up my day.”
For some time, 49ers medical staff cared for Armstead while he lay down on the ground. After making his way carefully to the team’s sideline, he was soon allowed to rejoin the match.
Armstead played 34 snaps throughout the game and finished with three tackles and a half-sack. After Scherff kicked him with his left cleat, Armstead stated he should be well, but he anticipates some soreness for some time.
Regarding Scherff, Armstead remarked, “I didn’t know what happened.” “I have a great deal of respect for him, but he could have seriously injured me by tripping me and kicking me in the knee.” It was merely a devious ploy.
