Jurgen Klopp expressed his displeasure with UEFA’s handling of the managers’ post-match media responsibilities at his post-Toulouse press conference.
If the match ended in a loss, Klopp would have been even more angry, but things got worse for the Liverpool players after the final whistle.
The manager was brought outside to a tent after the game to hold his post-match press conference.
Tony Barrett, the press officer, was standing by Klopp, who had to push through thick crowds to get to the chamber where the reporters could not be heard.
This resulted from the Toulouse supporters’ clamour both within and outside the stadium.
Additionally, reporters were mute as Klopp spoke, with one characterising the company as “shambolic.”
Thank goodness for the microphones, Klopp’s remarks at his news conference were captured. “Who had the idea to do the press conference here?
“Whoa, that would be a really good question!”
Since UEFA effectively takes over the host stadium for games in its competition, the criticism is directed on UEFA rather than Toulouse in particular.
The organisation has received criticism before, even if it was only on Thursday.
Supporters of Liverpool reported that it was a “shambles” trying to enter the stadium and that they were having difficulty.
This would have most likely resulted from UEFA’s frequent incapacity to organise events skillfully combined with the Gendarmerie’s harsh enforcement of football fans.
