Anfield shock: Salah’s never-to-be-known secret exposed
The pharaoh desired to conceal this knowledge.
From 2015 to 2023, Roberto Firmino, a player for Liverpool, disclosed the true nature of the relationship between Sadio ManĂ© (now at Al-Nassr F.C.) and Mohamed Salah at Anfield. In his book “YES LORD: My Liverpool Years,” the 32-year-old Brazilian striker, who is currently at Al-Ahli, acknowledged the intense competition between the Senegalese and Egyptian, writing, “Mohamed Salah and Sadio ManĂ© were never the best of friends.” Firmino clarifies, saying, “They were all quite reserved. They hardly ever spoke to one another, and I’m not sure if that was because of Senegal and Egypt’s rivalry in African tournaments. Actually, I’m not sure.
The Brazilian was quick to emphasise that he “never stopped talking to each other, never completely severed their ties” with ManĂ©, with whom he created an incredible strike partnership at the legendary Liverpool. They consistently behaved in the most professional manner. Firmino acknowledges that the conflict between Salah and ManĂ© had an impact on him, saying, “Klopp knew he wouldn’t protest when he changed me.” In the competition between Mohamed Salah and ManĂ©, Roberto Firmino made it clear that he “never took sides” and that he even made sacrifices for them on the pitch: “That’s why they love me: I always passed the ball to both of them; my preference was the team’s victory.”
Roberto Firmino revealed, “Perhaps that explains why Klopp most frequently substituted me. The supervisor understood that I wouldn’t do anything like toss a bottle on the floor or anything like that because the three of us had quite different personalities. He would say something if it affected him. Everyone was aware of how it operated. It was Liverpool’s worst-kept secret, so of course no one asked me what I thought or felt. “Everyone understood that was how it operated, even the other players. Since it was the worst-kept secret in Liverpool, of course no one asked me my thoughts or my feelings. I’m naturally inclined to put the team first. “I knew that,” he murmured.
Secret of Salah
“We were in the tunnel heading back to the locker room following our commanding 3-0 victory over Burnley. There was clearly tension in the air. Even if the outcome was favourable, Sadio ManĂ©’s angry outburst during his final minute substitution during the game will always be remembered. It was all captured on camera. Sadio wasn’t only upset at being replaced; just moments earlier, Mohamed Salah attempted to score after receiving a clear pass for ManĂ©, who was unimpeded within the box. I can’t tell you exactly what ManĂ© yelled as he came off because my English isn’t that good, but it wasn’t pretty! Even when James Milner attempted to soothe him, Sadio remained enraged, sitting on the bench screaming and making constant gestures.
