Virgil van Dijk’s exclusion from Liverpool’s Europa League team to play Toulouse has been explained by Jurgen Klopp.
Although the captain of Liverpool was left out of the travelling team to play Toulouse, there are no immediate concerns regarding his fitness.
“Virgil is a little bit ill,” manager Klopp clarified.
“Should not be a big deal, but it’s clear that we didn’t want it to happen on the plane.” I have it, and perhaps some other people do as well.
“He ought to be fine for the weekend.”
Van Dijk most likely would have received a rest for this match anyhow. Barrell Quansah’s improvement in cup competitions means Liverpool’s defence shouldn’t be a concern.
Joel Matip and Quansah are anticipated to begin simultaneously, although Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate are also on hand in case they are required.
But there are two players who Liverpool will not be permitted to use: Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones.
The manager gave an explanation for the two’s absences after they missed training. “Curtis had a hamstring [problem] last week, not massive,” Klopp stated.
“He will return after the international break, but not before.” Extremely poor quality hamstring
Regarding Gravenberch’s problem, Klopp was more upbeat, stating: “Ryan had a minor knee ache. He was already running on Wednesday, but this game was out of the question.
“Brentford has a chance, and he will return following the international break.”
Given the absence of Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott, and Alexis Mac Allister are expected to start in the midfield for Liverpool.
