It makes sense that the Lakers would want Caruso given his history with the Lakers. The former Texas A&M star began his career with the Lakers in 2017, eventually becoming a key cog who helped the team win the NBA title in 2020. He then signed with the Bulls as a free agent in the summer of 2021.

He’s an incredibly tough and gritty defender who can guard multiple positions. Additionally, he has a knack for making the hustle plays that often go overlooked. His leadership and toughness have been praised by teammates, coaches, and fans alike.
The exec added that while Chicago may look to snag a first-round pick in exchange for Caruso, the Lakers may balk at such a proposition. However, the Lakers may be willing to part with some of their young players.
“They wouldn’t give up a [first-round] pick but they could give up [Jalen] Hood-Schifino and another contract if they wait until December 15. Or Max Christie, he has some value,” the executive said.
