Before Liverpool’s Europa League match against Toulouse, manager Jurgen Klopp stated that Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch were seriously injured.
The two midfield players were absent from the travelling team and could not be seen in training on Wednesday afternoon.
Jones missed Liverpool’s match against Luton this past weekend due to “a minor fitness issue.”
In a recent update, Klopp stated that the 22-year-old’s ailment is a hamstring strain. “Curtis experienced a minor hamstring issue last week.
“He will return after the international break, but not before.” Extremely poor quality hamstring
“When I took him off against Bournemouth, he didn’t feel anything,” the manager continued. “But when I came in the dressing room, he said he felt something.”
Ryan Gravenberch, who has started all three of Liverpool’s Europa League games this season, was unexpectedly left out of training on Wednesday and will not play against Toulouse.
In addition, Klopp has ruled him out of Sunday’s game against Brentford, citing a minor knee ailment suffered by Ryan. He was already running on Wednesday, but this game was out of the question.
“Brentford has a chance, and he will return following the international break.”
With Jones and Gravenberch out, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott, and Alexis Mac Allister will likely start in the middle of the pitch against Toulouse.
Given that he will be suspended and unable to play against Brentford on Sunday in the Premier League, the latter should get the start.
Except for Mohamed Salah, Dominick Szoboszlai has played more minutes for Liverpool this season than any other player. The Hungarian is ready for a break.
Additionally, Liverpool’s midfield is essentially chosen by itself due to the absences of Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago.
James McConnell, who made his debut in the closing seconds of the most recent Europa League match at Anfield, is an outside candidate to enter.
