Jurgen Klopp has said that until Jarell Quansah, a teenage player from Liverpool, stepped into the senior team, he had no idea how brilliant the player truly was.
Speaking to the media prior to Liverpool’s match against Toulouse in the UEFA Europa League, the Anfield manager said he was taken aback by the 20-year-old’s effect on the starting lineup.
This season, Quansah has emerged as Liverpool’s standout player. The defender has made numerous appearances for the Reds in the League Cup, the Premier League, and Europe.
The England youth international has impressed so much this season that very few supporters would have imagined, and Klopp seems to belong in the same group.
Regarding Quansah, Klopp responded, “I would have been surprised if you had asked me in the preseason if he would be this good, but now that I see him every day, I’m not surprised.”
“He has everything you need, is really happy to be here, and he’s good with the ball and aggressive in challenges. It’s really promising.”
Klopp shouldn’t be too surprised by Quansah’s breakthrough with Liverpool

Surprise first-team debuts are nothing new for Liverpool, but Quansah’s has reportedly taken both Klopp and supporters by surprise—even when it shouldn’t have.
The defender was among Liverpool’s most promising young players in recent years, and Quansah also made an impression while playing on loan for Bristol Rovers the previous season.
And this season, the centre defender has easily made the biggest career jump of his life, giving Liverpool an extraordinary defensive player in Quansah.
